L.N: Artist or designer?
C.M: What I do does not respond to any current or intend to express any concept. I always liked the applied arts, in all its facets, and for different reasons I ended up in the textile world, although I also like other worlds so I have a lot of pending subjects that I hope to be able to do little by little.
L.N: Where did your inspiration come from?
C.M: The only thing I do is communicate through color and textures. I think I do not look like anyone, or at least I try, always by dint of work and to investigate the possibilities of materials. Experiment with many tools that do not belong to the field of printing and I am often wrong, other times I am surprised with the result, and things that I love go off. Although it may not seem like it, everything I do is the result of countless tests, errors and also some success. Obviously, the previous training in the theory of materials has been my great luck. I'm not looking for inspiration anywhere, everything I do responds to the mood, I'm very visceral, there's no mystery, I work while listening to music and I guess it influences me, although I often concentrate so much that the album is finished and I do not I realize…
L.N: How do you work?
C.M: Normally I work with frames of 2mx70cms, I am generous with the size of my pieces, and if the fabric allows me I can get up to 2mx120cms. As I am my main consumer I know that the format of my handkerchiefs is comfortable, everything is thought.
L.N: What type of tissues do you use?
C.M: I use very high quality fabrics, because working with them is in itself a satisfaction, satin crepe, Chinese crepe, organza in fact, if it does not satisfy me, I feel qualms and ends up in any corner. My fans are made entirely here, they bear the stamp of "Spanish fan" and the assembly is carried out by craftsmen from Valencia with great experience and career, heirs of the trade of their parents and grandparents.
